In 1507, he moved to France and he sailed to many places in the Mediterranean. He also crossed the Atlantic Ocean to Newfoundland. In January, 1524, Verrazano sailed to North America again. He wanted to find a water route between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He went up the east coast of North America and discovered New York Harbor. He then sailed north to Newfoundland and back to France. His brother Girolamo went on the ship with him and made maps. Verrazano sailed twice more across the Atlantic and visited Brazil.
