y friend Tom is a total disaster. He is always
having issues at home. From broken windows
to playful rats in his garden, he always has a problem.
Last weekend, for example, I was enjoying a relaxing
time at home reading the news and listening to music.
Suddenly, Tom called and said his fridge wouldn't
cool. "You had better call an electrician. I can't help
with that," I said, and he hung up. Some minutes later
he called again saying his cupboard fell apart. "You
had better use a hammer and nails," I replied. A third
phone call came in, he was fixing his garden. "Well,
I think you had better use some fertilizer," I kindly
answered. He called once and said he thought he had
a rat problem. "You had better call the exterminator
this time." And I added, "You had better relax and
come to the movies with me." And that was exactly
what we did!
