On Friday night a painting disappeared from the City Museum.
When the police detective, Ms. Smith, arrived at the museum, the
museum director was waiting for her. Detective Smith discovered that the theft took place at about 11 o'clock. There were only two people in the museum at that time: Mr. Miller, the security guard and Mr. Wilson, the cleaner. She asked them some questions.

1
Detective Mr. Miller, what were you doing at 11 o'clock last night?
Mr. Miller I was walking around the museum to make sure everything was OK.
Detective Did you see anything unusual?
Mr. Miller No, all the doors were locked and the only person there was Mr. Wilson.
He was vacuuming the floors at the
time. We talked for a bit and then I continued walking.
Detective OK, thank you, Mr. Miller.

2
Detective So, Mr. Wilson, what were you doing at 11 o'clock?
Mr. Wilson Well, I was vacuuming the floors.
It was almost time for me to leave when I saw Mr. Miller. He was walking around the museum. He stopped to talk to me, but then I got a message to go to the director's office. When I got there, there was nobody there, so I went back to work. I finished vacuuming and was getting ready to leave when the alarm went off.

3
Detective There's a lot of dust on the floor here. Are you sure you vacuumed
here, Mr. Wilson?
Mr. Wilson Of course. But the vacuum wasn't working properly! It was making a strange noise.

4
Detective Hmm... can I see your vacuum, please?
Mr. Wilson Yes, here it is.
Detective And here's the painting, too!
