BLACK AND WHITE CARNIVAL
In January a
colorful world comes
Nariño, a department located in the
south west of Colombia. In all its towns’
street and mainly in Pasto, its capital
city, there is happiness in the people
and everything becomes a fantasy.
For many years thousands of artists
gather in this place to show their work
at many events such as carnival
parades. The artisan’s task is the
preparation of costumes, drawings,
banners and floats that evoke Nariño’s
history, culture and value to “the Pacha Mama” as the center of all activity. It is very common
in days of carnival to see how people’s faces are painted in different colors, which joins them
around of the celebration and the enjoyment.
